Ok, so the air conditioner is not on, the fan on top is not spinning and it does not sound like the compressor is on either.

So this tells us that the problem is probably something electrical.

Grab your volt meter and get ready to trace the electrical trail.

Remove the electrical panel.

With your volt meter set to VAC test for 230 volts at the L side of the contactor.

Note: The L side of the contactor is the line side and is the side where the main power wires are attached the T side is the opposite side that does not normally have power when the contactor is open.

If you do not have 230 volts entering the contactor and to the L side of contactor stop here and click this button to go trace out your electric trail.

If you do have 230 volts there at contactor test for 24 volts at the contactor’s coil.

(Note: the contactors coil is usually located on the left and right side of the contactor.)

If you do not have 24 volts to the coil

If you do have 24 volts at the coil stop and move to page 14 now.
