You’re about to repair and air conditioner with a broken pressure switch.

Alright were going to need all refrigerant out of this system before removing the pressure switch.

Step one is to set up your recovery jug, tank and gauges and be sure to grab one extra hose and hook them up to the machine.

Open all your dials on your gauges, recovery machine, tank and the hoses themselves. If you forget to open even one dial your recovery machine will blow a hole in its condenser coil.

Right away you will hear refrigerant flowing from the air conditioner and into the tank, let it.

Now plug in and turn on the recovery machine, let it run until all your refrigerant is in the recovery tank and your ac system is completely void.

While your machine is pulling the refrigerant out of system, you should cut the two wires going to the existing pressure switch to prepare for removal

Once suction is at 0 shut down the recovery machine and close the refrigerant tanks access.

Close up all your hoses, tank, recovery machine and the gauge dials.

That’s it this machine is now “void of Freon” as we call it.

You can now use a crescent wrench to un-screw the pressure switch, lefty loosey and always use a backup wrench to ensure your copper doesn’t break where it brazed to the pressure switch mount.

(Note: if your pressure switch does not un-screw but is brazed into the lines directly, simply heat up the factory braze there. Remove the old switch, stick the new pressure switch in the hole and re-seal with a torch and some 15% silver solder.)

Screw your new pressure switch in the spot where the old one was and make sure to screw it down tight then another ¼ turn.

Ok, the pressure switch is in now go to page 9 to pull a proper vacuum and charge.
