The way this works is you just read the tasks in orange text, I will ask you to test something, you then click the appropriate answer usually in blue that matches your situation. We will cover every single turn or possibility and within 7 or less steps you will have diagnosed and repaired your central air conditioner.

The first thing to do is: set the thermostat to cool – Auto – 60 degrees

(Note: having the thermostat set at 60 degrees insures it will stay on throughout the entire diagnoses process.)

Now most thermostats have 5 minute time delays so you’re going to have to wait 5 minutes for time delay before the thermostat sends the signal to turn on.

Now go put your hand up to one of the air conditioning vents to feel for air movement, use a tissue if need be.

• If there Is any air coming out of the vents at all and I mean cold, warm or neutral air ANY AIR AT ALL then you need to grab your hand tools, your volt meter and your refrigerant gauges and go outside to the AC condenser.

• If there is no air movement at all then try using the tissue to determine if maybe there is a little air movement. Still no air from vents, Ok stop here and grab your ladder because your going to the indoor furnace and coil which is probably in the attic.
